Lincoln is one of the most historic cities in England and, here at SG Haulage, we’re very proud to call it our home. The heritage, tradition and culture of this city are world-famous and is why it’s become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK. Here are just a few of our favourite things to do during your trip to Lincoln.
Visit Lincoln Cathedral
Lincoln Cathedral has to be one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the whole of England and is one of the nation’s most visited. Looming large above the city, Lincolnshire Cathedral is a true architectural masterpiece from the Anglo-Norman period of our history and is nearly 1000 years old.
If you want to spend an afternoon walking around nature, there’s no better place than Lincoln Arboretum where you can wander through gardens, visit local tearooms, explore the maze and have a picnic.
Check Out Steep Hill
Steep Hill is probably Lincoln’s most well-renowned street, peppered with independent shops, cafes and brilliant places to sit and watch the world go by. As the name suggests, Steep Hill is… steep, so it’s not for the faint-hearted but is certainly worth the climb!
Lincoln Castle was built in 1068 by William the Conqueror only two years after he famously and successfully won the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and became the first Norman King of England. Used as a strategic base during William’s battle against resistance in the Midlands and the North, Lincoln Castle is also home to an original copy of the Magna Carta with only three other original copies in existence.
